Working closely with the client team, SGH conducted a comprehensive workplace assessment to better understand their current operations, future growth, and evolving workplace needs. Through in-depth surveys and stakeholder engagement sessions, the team gathered valuable insights from employees and leadership to inform the design direction.

Collaboration, inclusion, and community emerged as the guiding principles for the project. Inspired by Kelowna’s vibrant culture and natural surroundings, the design incorporates warm, sunlit tones that reflect the region’s relaxed lifestyle and landscape. These elements are balanced with Doane Grant Thornton’s bold corporate brand palette, creating a workplace that feels both locally rooted and distinctly reflective of the organization’s identity.

More than a workplace, Doane Grant Thornton’s Mississauga office is a hub where business professionals gather to connect, collaborate, and access expert advice. Spanning 31,500 square feet across two full floors, the space supports both team interaction and moments of personal retreat beyond the traditional 9 to 5 environment. A variety of work settings and integrated technology enable seamless communication for both in person and virtual engagement.

Retained by Doane Grant Thornton to design offices across Ontario, SGH tailored this Mississauga location to reflect the client’s specific needs while supporting its growing presence within the dynamic business landscape of the GTA. The result is an open, collaborative workplace designed for flexibility, connection, and growth.

For its Canadian headquarters, global financial services and Forex firm CMC Markets envisioned a workplace that reflects both performance and presence within Toronto’s Financial Core. Located at CIBC Square, the project delivers a refined, sustainable environment designed to support the demands of a fast paced, global organization.

Acting as Prime Consultant, SGH worked with Sydney based design and PM firm, Brown James. Together, we translated CMC Market’s global standards into a highly functional and thoughtfully designed workplace.

The space includes a variety of collaboration and meeting settings, a café style lounge, a large boardroom, and a secure trading room. Floor to ceiling views stretching southwest across Lake Ontario and the downtown skyline create an inspiring backdrop, reinforcing focus, energy, and connection throughout the suite.

This project represents a fresh start for an evolving company. MCAN experienced rapid growth during the pandemic, outgrowing their current space. To attract employees back, Senior Leadership engaged in the visioning process with staff resulting in a design that mirrors MCAN’s mission as a mortgage lender and investor within Canada’s real estate markets.

MCAN achieved their goal to get staff back in office through a community focused design. Their previous space was primarily large workstations with high panels that blocked views and restricted natural light. Rather than centering the design solely on the idea of a single home, SGH was inspired to create a sense of belonging for employees through the theme of communities, reflecting their mission as a company.

The design draws from shared spaces that are familiar: a guest facing reception that feels like a plaza, the café reminiscent of a walk in the park, and a workspace that functions like a neighborhood, all infused into the office with familiar forms, shapes and motifs.

Building on an existing relationship, SGH was engaged as Prime Consultant to design a new full-floor expansion for this financial client in London, Ontario. Secured as part of a broader 10 year growth strategy, the base building floor provided a blank canvas to extend the client’s established workplace standards while enhancing the overall employee experience.

Working closely with the client team, SGH developed a cohesive design that aligned seamlessly with national brand guidelines while introducing elevated amenities, including a coffee bar and bistro, to support collaboration and staff growth. Detailed 3D visualization and clear design communication ensured the original vision translated precisely into the built environment. The result is a polished, high-performing workplace that reflects the organization’s culture and positioned SGH for continued partnership on subsequent projects.
